New Payment System Introduced in Baku’s Public Transport

Starting from July 1, a new payment system will be introduced in Baku’s public transport. Passengers will be able to pay only via card or mobile app. This measure aims to promote cashless payments and increase transparency in the transport system.

According to the Baku Transport Agency, the new system will allow for more efficient passenger flow management. Additionally, it aims to provide more transparent fare accounting and improve service quality. Currently, new equipment has been installed on buses and the metro as part of a pilot project.

Passengers using “BakıKart” and other compatible payment methods will be able to pass quickly, reducing waiting times. The system’s rollout will be gradual and is planned to extend to other regions in the future.
